Staying at the Aspen Lodge was a mixed experience. The location offered decent views of Lake Superior from our second-floor room, and the beds were comfortable. However, I encountered some issues with the room assignment and found the breakfast options lacking. Overall, it’s a solid place to stay for the price, but don't expect an elaborate breakfast or perfect service.

Our room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed. The view of the lake was nice, though not as close as I expected.
Service

While staff seemed friendly, I had a mix-up with my reservation that took some time to resolve.

The lodge is located near the main street, which provides reasonable access to downtown, though it wasn't exactly central.

Breakfast was quite disappointing as there were limited options—no fresh fruit or yogurt, just some bagels and mini-muffins.

The hotel has decent amenities like a pool and sauna, which were enjoyable, but don't expect any luxury.

My stay at the Aspen Lodge in Grand Marais wasn't quite what I hoped for. While the location is decent and the view from my room was nice, the confusion regarding my reservation and the lackluster breakfast options were disappointing. Overall, it served its purpose as a place to sleep, but I wouldn’t classify it as a charming getaway.

Rooms

Our room had a distant view of the lake, but it wasn't as described when I booked. Expecting a spa, I ended up in a ground-level room without much of a view initially.
Service

Dealing with the front desk was a headache, especially when clarifying issues about our reservation. Although they did try to fix the room situation, the overall experience felt unorganized.

The Aspen Lodge is within walking distance to downtown, but it's not exactly right there. You'll likely need to drive if you want to enjoy the downtown area.
Dining

The continental breakfast left much to be desired with very limited options. There were some bagels and mini muffins, but no fresh fruit or yogurt, which was disappointing.

Facilities were basic; the hotel served its purpose but didn't impress. It was mostly a place to sleep without any extra amenities.

I had a restful stay with a lovely view of Lake Superior. The rooms were clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed that was perfect after a long day of exploring. While the breakfast was quite basic, it didn't take away from the overall experience. The facilities were practical, and the overall value for the price was excellent, especially during the busy season.

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The location is decent, and for those who enjoy the outdoors, it offers a basic, clean place to rest after a day of adventure. However, the lack of amenities and a disappointing breakfast made my stay less enjoyable. The service could be more attentive, especially when it comes to addressing concerns with room assignments.

The hotel had its ups and downs. While I found the common areas to be lovely and the staff truly kind, my room felt like a blast from the past, and the overall quality didn't match the price I paid. It was a bit out of the way, and the parking situation was tricky, especially with the snow. If you're looking for modern comforts, this might not be the best fit.

Rooms

The room was spacious but felt dated, with old furniture and a cramped shower.
Service

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
